Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Lift-Era collects, why, and the choices you have. It covers both the Lift-Era iPhone app (the “app”) and this website at lift-era.app (the “site”). We’ve written it in plain language and tried to avoid the usual legal fog. Lift-Era is an iOS facial yoga app that scores your form in real time.

Your face and camera data

This is the part that matters most, so it comes first. When you practise with Lift-Era, your iPhone’s TrueDepth camera and Apple’s ARKit track your facial muscle movement and score your form in real time.

All of this happens on your device.The camera feed and the facial-geometry data ARKit produces are processed live on your iPhone’s Neural Engine and exist only for the length of your session. Specifically:

• We never upload your camera feed, photos, or video to any server. There is no server to upload them to.
• We do not store images or video of your face. Frames are analysed in the moment and discarded.
• The face-tracking data used for scoring is never transmitted off your device and is not linked to your identity.
• No Lift-Era employee can see your camera feed, because it never reaches us.

This is only possible because Apple’s on-device machine learning does the heavy lifting locally. We built it this way because we’d want it this way.

Information the app collects

Aside from the camera data described above (which stays on your device), the app handles a small amount of information:

• Your practice history and scores. Your session results are stored on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced privately through your own Apple iCloud account. We cannot read the contents of your private iCloud database.
• Purchases and subscriptions. If you subscribe, the transaction is handled by Apple through the App Store. We receive a confirmation that a subscription is active, but we never receive your card number or full payment details.
• Diagnostics. If you opt in to sharing diagnostics with developers, Apple may send us aggregated, anonymised crash and performance reports so we can fix bugs. This never includes your face data.

Information the site collects

• Waitlist email. If you sign up to be notified at launch, we collect the email address you provide. It is stored with our email provider, MailerLite, and used only to email you about Lift-Era. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
• Basic server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information such as IP address and browser type to keep the site secure and running. We do not use this to build a profile of you.
• No tracking cookies.We don’t use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or third-party marketing pixels. There’s no cookie banner because there are no tracking cookies to consent to.

How we use information

We use the limited information above only to:

• Provide the app’s scoring and progress features.
• Process and manage subscriptions through the App Store.
• Email you about the launch or product updates, if you asked us to.
• Diagnose crashes and improve reliability.
• Keep the app and site secure and meet our legal duties.

We never use your face or camera data for advertising, profiling, or training models that leave your device.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with the service providers that make Lift-Era work, and only what they need:

• Apple— the App Store, iCloud, and payment processing, under Apple’s own privacy policy.
• MailerLite— delivering waitlist and product emails, if you signed up.
• Our hosting provider— serving this website.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and Lift-Era.

Data retention

Camera and face-tracking data is not retained at all — it is discarded as it is processed. Your scores stay on your device and in your iCloud account until you delete them or delete the app. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California CCPA, you have rights over your personal data. Lift-Era honours these rights for everyone, wherever you are:

• Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Delete your data. You can delete your scores directly in the app at any time, no email required. To be removed from our waitlist, use the unsubscribe link or contact us.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time.
• Portability— receive your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these, email us at support@lift-era.app. We’ll respond within the timeframes required by law. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Lift-Era is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The strongest protection for your face data is architectural: it never leaves your device, so it can’t be intercepted in transit or breached on a server. For the limited data we do handle, we use reputable providers, encryption in transit, and access controls appropriate to its sensitivity.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of Lift-Era after a change means you accept the updated policy.
